The Sports Blog — We Hardly Knew Ya
Print

I started writing as the first Sport Blogger here in July, and after approximately 200 posts over the last 7 months, I’ve been told today that the authors are no longer needed at the BOTW Media network. They are taking their content to aggregate providers, and in a time of horrendous advertising dollar opportunities on the Internet, I can’t say that the move surprises me too much, I just wasn’t prepared for it.

Over the last seven months, I’ve tried to take blogging to another level. Whereas most bloggers will take a single thought and illiterately toss it upon the page, I tried to make most of my posts contain some semblance of irreverent order. I’ve attempted to write shorter feature pieces like the one about National Signing Day that I wrote this morning. I wanted the pieces to incite discussion or ire, create new thoughts on the world of sports, make people laugh, or just generally entertain. I hope I’ve been able to at least do that a little.

I would like to continue to write sports. I have a day job as a Marketing Manager at a financial institution, but the ancillary spending income and the pleasure of writing sports this place provided was well worth the extra time I took to put into my posts. I would love to continue to be able to do that.

If anyone, in their travels, knows of any sites looking for sportswriters, or sports bloggers, preferably with some sort of income in exchange for what I hope is valuable content, please let me know. You can e-mail me at plieber@keaneco.com or lieber14@hotmail.com. I’d appreciate the chance to continue sharing my negativity about, and love of, sports with the Internet community. Thanks again for reading. I appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Pete Lieber
