Oh my god what are the good ole boys of NASCAR going to say about this? Toyota will be fielding cars in the Nextel and Busch series next year. Just the thought of a foreign car company being in the top series has to be a shock to the legions of NASCAR fans. Toyota is one company who has the financial backing to make this venture successful. They have been in the Craftsman Truck series for the past few years with good success.

With Ford and General Motors struggling domestically this could be a blow to them if Toyota comes out of the gate very quickly. Toyota could find many NASCAR fans not very receptive to there inclusion in a sport that for the most part have been dominated by American car companies. The last foreign car company in the sport was Jaguar in the 1950’s and they didn’t last long. Toyota is supposed to announce partnership with Bill Davis racing who has Michael Waltrip under contract and is rumored to be there choice to run there Nextel car. Waltrip is a popular driver and it should be interesting to see how his fans take him driving a foreign car and if he will still be a good ole boy once he drives it.
