One thing I’ve wondered now for a few years is does anyone watch the WNBA. I will admit every now and then I will take a peek when it’s on or if it’s an interesting match up. I’m starting to think though I’m the minority when it comes to watching women’s pro basketball. Some of the WNBA players are very talented and I loved watching Cynthia Cooper play when she played for Houston . I always called her the women’s version of Michael Jordan. She was a four-time WNBA final’s MVP, and that sounds like Jordan to me.
The WNBA game is sluggish at times and it does get boring, but I’ve noticed a little better play lately from them. I know not too many women can dunk but maybe they should try more and make it more enjoyable to watch. My real question is how much longer is the NBA going to lose money on the WNBA before they shut it down. I could be wrong maybe they are turning a profit, but I seriously doubt it. When was the last time you seen a sellout crowd in a WNBA arena? Or seen a kid wearing an WNBA jersery of one of it’s top stars. I sure haven’t seen it.
